    Dear School Community,

I hope this letter finds you well and excited for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year!

Over the summer months, our dedicated facilities staff have been hard at work ensuring that our grounds and facilities are in top-notch condition for the start of the new academic year. Regular cleaning and necessary repairs are being completed, and we are also proud to announce that we are nearing completion of the capital project work that was approved by the voters in May 2022. This project has been a significant undertaking, and I am delighted to share some of the highlights with you:

    • New Roof: Parts of the middle/high school have received a brand new roof, providing a safe and conducive learning environment for our students. Additionally, the elementary school is undergoing a total roof replacement, ensuring its longevity for years to come. We expect all roof work to be completed by the start of school in September.
    • Student Bathrooms: Our Middle/High School will have new student bathrooms, providing modern and comfortable facilities for our students.  These will also be ready to use by the start of the school year.
    • Classroom Updates: To enhance the learning experience, we have made updates to classroom spaces in both the high school and the elementary school, providing a more conducive environment for our teachers and students.
    • New Flooring: Throughout the middle/high school, we have installed new flooring, not only improving the aesthetics but also creating a cleaner atmosphere.

Joining us this year, I am pleased to extend a warm welcome to our new Elementary Principal, Mrs. Shauna McMahon. Mrs. McMahon started with us in July and has already been hard at work developing schedules and preparing the building for the start of school. To give everyone an opportunity to meet and greet our new Elementary Principal, we will be organizing a "Meet the New Elementary Principal" event in the near future.  In the high school, Mr. Grande and his team have developed a new schedules that includes additional course options in science, mathematics and social studies that will provide new and exciting academic opportunities for our students.

Our teachers have also been diligently engaged in professional development events during the summer. Our elementary teachers have focused on enhancing their skills related to teaching reading, while many of our middle/high school staff has been engaged in upgrading the curriculum.

In response to the growing need for additional classroom and office space, the District Office will be relocating from the elementary school to the back of the high school. This transition is expected to be completed in September, and we believe it will better serve our administrative needs while allowing our elementary school to have more space for academic activities.

Moreover, the principals have been actively recruiting new faculty and staff members. We are eager to introduce these new team members to you in our first newsletter of the school year.

As we embark on this new academic journey together, I want to remind each and every one of you that your feedback and involvement are crucial to the success of our school community. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any comments, questions, or suggestions you may have. Your partnership is invaluable, and together, we can make this school year truly exciting and successful for everyone involved.

Once again, I extend my warmest welcome to each student, family, faculty member, and staff as we begin the 2023-2024 school year here at Forestville. Let us embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and let our collective passion for education continue to ignite the minds and hearts of our students.

Wishing you all a wonderful start to the school year!

    Sincerely,

    Dr. John O’Connor
