FCS Spanish Club Observes National Hispanic Awareness Month

The Spanish Club celebrated National Hispanic Awareness month by immersing themselves in authentic experiences.  High school Spanish Club members learned about the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony Award winner; Rita Moreno.  They watched her most recognized Academy-Award winning role as Anita in the West Side Story and then traveled to SUNY Fredonia to see her speak.  Students had the amazing opportunity to hear about Ms. Moreno’s incredible personal and professional journey as a Hispanic immigrant finding her way in the US.  Students then enjoyed Mexican cuisine at Azteca.

The Spanish Club also hosted Club la Luna, an annual Dinner and Dance.  Forestville aims to provide Spanish Club members the opportunity to try authentic Puerto Rican food, catered by Hector Alverio, and enjoy a night of Spanish Dancing.  Each year our program grows reaching out to various schools in Chautauqua County.  Westfield, Panama, Cassadaga, and Jamestown joined us for an unforgettable night.
