On Monday, April 18th, four members of our school’s National Honor Society represented Forestville at the first ever Chautauqua NHS Banquet. It was held at the Chautauqua Conference center in Mayville. The four NHS members who chose to attend this event were; Trent Hartloff, Olivia Markham, Haylee Valentine, and Jacob Lugen.
A Distinguished Service Award was given to one NHS member from each school who attended the banquet. Olivia Markham was selected as the recipient for this $100.00 award.
There were also a total of 3 other awards that seniors could apply for. They were all worth $1,000. Olivia applied for the Cummins Award that is specifically for students who plan to pursue a degree in STEM. She had to write an essay on the ideas of social justice, education, and environment that relate to our community. She WON this $1,000 award as well!
