As a parent of three adult children combined with years of experience as a high school English teacher, a middle/high school principal and now as a school superintendent - I have learned one thing - we all have to work together to have a great school! Parents, teachers, administrators, board members and students all have an important role to play in the development of a successful school community. Forestville is fortunate to have all of the necessary pieces in place to see our school continue to provide a quality educational experience for our district's student body.

We have very active parent organizations such as the Parent Connection, the Sports Boosters and the Music Boosters who have a wonderful history of providing support to a wide variety of school programs. There are also other opportunities throughout the school year for parents and grandparents and other community members to invest their time on behalf of our kids - and if you have a great idea, please don't hesitate to give us a call! We love having parents involved in the life of the school.

Our teachers and building principals are also vital to the success of Forestville Central School. In light of the new Annual Professional Performance Review, our teachers and principals are engaged in what could be considered the most aggressive educational reform effort in the history of New York State public education. While there are people who fall on both side of the political rhetoric surrounding the APPR, our Board of Education, Administration, and Faculty have embraced the legislation as a way to improve the education that our kids receive on a daily basis. Every person involved in instruction here in Forestville has a more focused understanding of the learning targets for our students. This clear focus drives our work and has allowed us to set goals that will improve the quality of our instruction and will enable our students to be more prepared for success in college and the workplace. I am very proud of the work that our staff has done related to this challenging initiative and promise that we will continue to raise the bar in ways that will result in tangible benefits for Forestville students.

And speaking of Hornet Pride... our students continue to make us all proud! From pre-kindergarten through grade twelve, we have wonderful kids who come from wonderful families. Whether it be in the classroom, on the stage, in the gym or on the athletic field, Forestville students continue to represent us well. They are definitely faced with increased challenges resulting from the implementation of the Common Core Learning Standards, but they are more than up for those challenges. When I walk through the halls and into classrooms I am always impressed with our students. They are working hard, learning much and enjoying life! They are the reason for our existence and they also make all the hard work worthwhile.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve this school district and I am excited about the team we have in place to work with the children who attend each day. We are committed to the ongoing work of improvement and want to thank you for your support.

With our kids in mind,
