One of the all time great dance musicals comes to Forestville in this year's school musical production based on the 1980 Tony Award winning show. Young Peggy Sawyer comes to New York in search of fame and fortune and catches the eye of one of the most powerful directors on Broadway, Julian Marsh.

As can only happen in a Broadway musical full of intrigue and plot twists, Peggy is discovered, hired, fired, and eventually becomes the star of the show. In between are thrilling dance numbers, fabulous sets and costumes and some of the most famous songs ever heard on a Broadway stage including “You're Getting to Be a Habit With Me”, “We're in the Money”, “I Only Have Eyes for You”, “The Lullaby of Broadway”, “About a Quarter To Nine”, “Shuffle off to Buffalo”, and “42nd Street”.

 

This is the largest production ever performed at FCS with over 80 students and adults participating, having the largest set pieces ever built.  Dance instructor/choreographer and FCS alumni Kat Kuczka started working with the dancers back in August perfecting the many tap dancing numbers.  With the help of a local construction company, massive sets were built, and painted by our Art department teacher and students.  The large pit band is back performing the jazzy tunes that are familiar to most of us.  The costume department has been hard at work coming up with a variety of colorful 30's era clothing.  And the sound and lighting crews have made even more advancements from last year. 

 

This musical is appropriate for all ages, and a special Saturday afternoon matinee show is being performed for the first time this year.  Reserved seating tickets are now on sale for only $5.00, and can be purchased at the HS office between the hours of 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM.  Un-sold tickets will then be available for purchase at the door.
