Forestville Excels at Annapolis Music Festival
The High school Band and Chorus just returned from an extremely successful trip to the Annapolis Music Festival. The trip included visits to historical sites in Washington DC, a Dinner Cruise on the Inner Harbor of Baltimore, a tour of the United States Naval Academy and the city of Annapolis. The groups attended a concert by the United States Navy Jazz Band and two of our seniors: Chelsea Mead and Robert Franklin were invited to play along on one selection. Despite all of the above, the competition was the true highlight of the trip. Our High School Chorus received a BRONZE rating and our Women’s Chorus received a SILVER rating. Their combined scores were the highest of the festival earning Forestville the Choral Sweepstakes Trophy for Best Vocal Department. Our High School Jazz Ensemble received a BRONZE rating, the Concert Band received a SILVER rating and the Hornet Marching Band received a SILVER rating along with a citation of appreciation from the Crofton Civic Association for participating in their parade. The combined scores also earned Forestville the Instrumental Sweepstakes Award for the Best Instrumental Program at the Festival. In addition, the Hornet Marching Band earned the highest score of all of the bands competing earning them the Best Band Trophy. All total, Forestville earned 8 awards at this prestigious festival which is inn its 24th year. Congratulations to all of the Band and Chorus students for a job well done.
